Vivid Build’s expertise is established in Tom Granger’s career as a qualified carpenter, where he developed a hands-on understanding of construction. Today, that trade foundation is still central to how he works as a registered building practitioner, from reading a set of drawings to spotting a problem before it becomes one.

Heritage & Period Home Specialists
Tom has a genuine passion for Melbourne’s period homes — Edwardian, Victorian, Federation, and Californian Bungalow. These homes have character that deserves to be preserved. We understand heritage overlays, original joinery, and the craft required to sensitively modernise a period home without compromising what makes it special. We work closely with architects and draftspeople — respecting the design intent and bringing it to life with the precision it deserves. If your architect has drawn it, we’ll build it right.
Our trade background means we understand the structural realities behind a design and when challenges come up during a build, we work through them methodically to keep the project on track and on budget. If something needs to change along the way, we’ll talk it through and find the right path forward.

We’re particular about materials. We’ll work with you to select finishes that suit your budget and your home, with an eye on durability and long-term quality, not just how things look on the day. And with Tom on site almost every day of the build, that’s the most effective quality control there is.

These are neighbourhoods we know well; the streets, the housing stock, the council quirks, and the heritage overlays that come with them. When you’re investing in someone to look after your family’s biggest asset, local knowledge genuinely matters. It shapes how we plan the build and how we make decisions on site.
